Tacoma Public Schools Water Crisis

On the heels of the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, the Tacoma School District discovered they had unacceptably high levels of lead at some of their schools. The Keller Group came on-site to help manage the flow of information to parents and the media. Our team helped district staff share the highly technical process for testing lead in a way that was both transparent and useful. We organized media availabilities, trained district leadership and worked with the media to ensure timely, relevant communications, turning a potential crisis to a learning opportunity.  Most importantly, the crisis spurred the governor and legislature to fund regular water testing across all districts in the state.
